JL 500/1 or Alpine MRD -M500

I just need A little help on deciding on which amp to go with , my choices are JL 500/1 or Alpine MRD-M500 . I have a Alpine head unit 7977 which is Bass Engine ready and I don't know if that is Bill SH#@t or not . thanks

i've never heard the M500 in action, but just by looking at the specs, i'd get the jl, plus i hear that it's really hard to get it to overheat.
