JL 450/4 DC Offset

Hey guys, New here. Just wanted to vent. Purchased a JL amp to power my mb quart component speakers for my car. For about 20min, it was pure audio bliss... then all of a sudden my front right speaker made a pop noise loud enough to where I though someone was chucking something at my car. I pulled over and looked around and nothing. Got in my car and heard another pop and smelled something burrning. OMFG, I thought and turned off my system as soon as I could. It was too late. My front right MB's were fried, tweets and all. I tested the DC offset before I even hooked up the speakers and all channels have an average DC offset of about 7 mv which was great. I couldn't be happier. Now Channel 2 has a 38 volt DC OFFSET! MAN I was pissed. Every other channel stayed the same. Now I have to buy another set of speakers and atleast 2 weeks before my amp comes back. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crying.gif.ec0ebefe590df0251476573bc49e46d8.gif

i'm actually suprised the tweeters were damaged. unless this is an active system, the tweeters passive crossover should have done wonders to prevent this from happening. actually, now that I think of it barring any lighbulb-based protection, it should have protected the mids too.

active setup?
