JL 13.5 W6 with Zapco 1000watts

what is the cone excursion like on the 13w6? Do you really think that this setup could hit in the 140's? What if I put a 1000watt zapco to each 13w6? Would it be ridiculously loud?

You would be over powering them. I thought you wanted a SQ oriented system. Which is it? Like others said, if you want to be in mid 130's to low 140's, then 2 of the 13w6s should suffice of that amp, however if you want to really slam, I would look at something else.

I thought you already had the 12w6's?

The only thing that I have purchased so far is the JL Clean Sweep. I am most definitely going with Zapco Amps. And I am going to use the W6v2's, but havent decided on size yet. The 13s arent much more expensive than the 12s. However the 13s would need a bigger box which I really dont care for. Im just trying to get a feel for the difference in performance between the 12s and 13s. Yes I am still SQ oriented.

2k on your substage is not really gonna be a SQ system, yeah you could turn them down, but from a daily driver soundpoint a person would hope that their midbass was kickass enough to hang with 1k rms.

so 1k will be plenty in my opinion and sound good, plenty of people like them over the w7.

1000W to a single 13W6 is too much. They are realy comfprtable at 500W a piece. that's the power range where you get the best of both worlds: Performance and longevity.

1000W on two 13W6's should at least net you low 140's. I hit 144 on two 12W3v2's on a 500/1, ported. So bigger woofers and more power should at worst give you something like what I did, and also sound very good, providing you got a solid enclosure for them.

I suggest ported. You won't lose much SQ at all. My 13W6 is ported and sounds great.
