jl 12w3 vs. jl 10w6

i dont know i got it for free from my friends dad who has had it for like 5 years. and i cant read the stuff on the back of the woofer i could just make out a w6

sounds like an old-school w6. if the cone has a dustcap with the jl logo on it then its the older one, if it looks like a w7 cone then its the v2.

what kind of sound are you looking for?

ok its the older one. im am not lookin to compete exept for at the ocasional street light. just some thin that will slam pritty good for a buget system

in that case i would go with the 12w3 in a 1.75 cuft ported box tuned around 35 hz or so.(imo) the w3's had a higher thermal power handeling then the w6 of the same time. just be shure that the surrounds are in good shape.

W3's where made for more SPL then the W6 of those models. You will get alot more out of the 12W3 then the 10W6. Although the 10W6 is alot more shallow mounting depth for a truck. Either one I would definatly port and go about 300-400rms power.
