Jl 1000/1 vs ????

Was looking at JL1000/1, but for the money, there had to be some options. Or cheaper options. Powering two sealed 12w6v2's any suggestions...Is 1000rms even enough? BOx volume will borderline on the small side.

With 2- Dual 4ohm subs, It will be a 1 ohm or 4 ohm load...right.

There are plent of options with other good amplifiers. The JL amp however is a solid choice because no matter what ohm load (between 1-4) it will be a solid 1000w rms, in contrast with most other amps whose power differs by load.

With 2 dual 4ohm vc's, you have the option of 1 ohm and 4 ohm correct.

I dont know the specs on those JL subs, but if ur going to wire to one ohm, you have plent of options for amps if your making sure those amps are stable to that ohm load.

Since their output is rated from 1.5~4 Ohms I was just curious.....are the Slash-series JL amps stable at an honest 1.0 Ohm load? If not this is a factor that ought to be taken into consideration in my humble opinion.

Though in retrospect I don't guess a pair of DVC 4 Ohm drivers will actually show the amp driving them an honest 1 Ohm load after factoring in box rise and whatnot so nevermind. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

NOt only will they never show the amp a 1 ohm load but I wouldn't dream of wiring them to a nominal 1 ohm load on that amp. It'll run cooler and draw less current wired for a nominal 4 ohm load and still produce the same power.

*Duh!* @ me.

Sometimes the most simple solutions really are the best ones...

No need to run A/B on subs, nor should there really be a desire to. The JL is called inefficient, but it will do better than either of those ARC amps in that respect.

Depends on who you ask. IMO some of the best amps ever made are a/b. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

i saw a guy powering 2 of those subs off a Crossfire VR1000d and they slammed. JL makes good products but the price tag is way to $$$ IMO

crossfire makes some good amps, and they go well with jl subs

i kno someone that has 3 10w6v2's runnin off a crosfire 1000 and its slams

they also just came out with some new amps

otherwise you cant go wrong with us amps the merlin amps would be good for them, somethin like the md2d

also dont worry about the box being on the smaller side cuz those subs work very well in small enclosures

i had the same subs and ran a hifonics brutus bxi1606d on them. it did very well. if funds werent limited, i would've got myself a used Orion 1200d or some type of kicker, rockford fosgate, PG, or JBL amp.
