Tangled Up in Blue
In time for the '06 MECA season...the front stage buildup. Dave E. had the pics of what the doors looked like before, but he was a n00bx and deleted them. Let's just say...swiss cheese, and Ford apparently doesn't think a commercial vehicle needs any sound deadening from the factory. Time for some changes.

Three layers of RAAMmat 60 BXT on the outer door skin, and two to three layers on the inside. All holes have been covered; the one on the bottom is where the Xover is going and will be covered after it's installed.

Close-up of the speaker mounting baffle. I'll probably put some more clay around it tomorrow.

The Sync6 mids are pretty beefy...the tweet is actually in the middle, flush mounted where the phase plug would normally be. I'll try it in this config. first, see if I like it...and no, I had to borrow the can. Caffeine-free Pepsi is the devil.

*** end of the mid. It's not DVC - one set of quick disconnects is for the woofer, the other is for the tweet.

More pictures will follow.

Nice job. Curious why you have a hole down by the bottom of the door. I know the feeling, most cars I have played aroun with have zero sound deadener. Here is a picture of what my car came with:

That is a picture of something the size of a small post it in the middle, and they have two pieces (one between the seat belt and the rear window) and another piece right where the seat belt enters the rear deck that are about the size of a regular postage stamp and a airmail stamp.

Most cars look like that, nothing you can do about it but get carried away:

So...another day, some more pictures. Not really pretty pictures, just the guts. Basically everything is finished, except for the dampening foam and Lexan panels on the doors to seal them up. Looking to have it completed in about a week, once UPS decides to show up //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

What's behind the passenger side dash...if you look carefully, you'll see the right channel speaker wire that's run in split loom. This side was easy to get to, compared to the left channel.

The PG interconnects for the sub are visible, as well as the right channel speaker wire. The red wire is part of the 500ma inline fuse for the remote wire. Can't be too safe.

The remote wire, both RCA's, and the speaker wire back to the front stage amp are all bundled together and go up near the floor vent. Even though it doesn't look like it, there's a good couple of inches of clearance between the wire bundle and the steering column.

Yeah, yeah...I did get it cheap, though //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Have fun there, Jimmy. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

I too have some monster cable in my system //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/tongue.gif.6130eb82179565f6db8d26d6001dcd24.gif
