jeep cherokee dead short.

i was wondering what could cause a dead short in my jeep without haveing my system installed yet. i switched out the alternator and the battery now twice. also i cannot use my headlights and my deck at the same time. its either one or the other. another thing do you guys know how to modify a led to use a plug bottom?ill draw it out
