since high school i've always had an SUV, and now i'm driving a trunk. i'm running wire under the car, and i need to come in through the trunk floor. there's all sorts of these "grommet" looking things, that i think might be intended for removing for running wiring or anything else through. on the top it looks like a oval thats filled in by a hard rubber/plastic. on the under side its clearly a hole, and then it has two metal clip things.

are these removeable? like i said, i've never owned a trunk before so i've never seen these.

Yeah man, firewall into cabin. The only way a trunk car differs from any other vehicle is it takes more to get loud. Unless you want to lose your backseat.

Just run the wire through your firewall, into cabin, just like normal! Not all cars will have an easy to find hole(with grommet) on the firewall...you may have to drill! Do it right the first time.

you can go though them

cut a hole in one of them and silicone it up when you are done.

I dont understand why a cars trunk needs drains?

what are you people carrying ,milk??

coming from a person that has his wire ran under the car, do not do it. unfortunately the install was done before i bought the car and everyday it worries the hell out of me. its securely fastened to the bottom of the car, but my civic is very low to the ground and it just worries me.

Just run it into the cabin.

I know my trunk has a vent to release air pressure, not sure that there is a drain for liquid.

i'm doing a battery re-locate to the trunk, so i need to do two runs of 0 gauge. If it were just a single run of even 0, i'd probably go the cabin route, but trying to stuff two runs of 0 gauge under the carpet just doesnt seem appealing. the factory battery location is IN the front driver side wheel well. on this car, there's only one exact pinch point that can be lifted on, and only by the factory jack, not a normal floor jack. then i have to take the wheel off and take all the plastic moldings off. i did it once, and i said F that, i'm re-locating.

I've run wire under vehicles before, and havent had a problem. as long as they're mounted higher than the frame rails and out of the way of moving parts, i don't worry about it. it'll be fused properly, of course, just incase if something does happen.

the things in the trunk floor, it would make sense that they're drains, but they appear to be completely sealed off.

just so i'm not being a stubborn prick i'll check to see if there's any easy access through the firewall and into the cabin without drilling massive holes.

If they're what I"m thinking of, they're just rubber plugs, right? When I ran my wire we went right through one, just took a knife and put two cuts in it, in an X pattern and pushed the wire through.

it's an 03 dodge stratus. i dont think they're rubber, its either a metal or a hard plastic. i tried jabbing it with a screwdriver pretty hard and didnt seem like something i could just go through without drilling, or removing it completely.

i've found a grommet on the firewall. i'm now forcing the wire through and its giong through harder than a woman giving birth. i hate you guys for making me do this. but i suppose it will appease the stereo gods and they will bless me with a great sounding install //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

i run alot of wires externally hell my 78z due to gay *** nhra rules has a trunk mounted bat and the cable runs down the inside of the frame wall and has been that way for over 10 yrs no problem //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
