Itunes question

THe comp I have been using for the last couple years belongs to my school, and I am leaving this school, so I will have to give the comp back. It's an IBM T41 laptop.

Over this time I have amassed quite a music collection. 1700+ songs are on this computer. I want to save the music, but Ive had problems in the past with Itunes not labling the audio tracks, so when I put it into a CD and put the disc in a different computer with Itunes, it does not recognize the tracks! Is there something I'm doing wrong? I usually burn in Data format.

Your question is confusing, but iTunes doesn't do any automatic labeling itself for MP3s, it just reads the ID3 tags. If you're having problem with labels, you'll have to edit the tags yourself via Winamp or a program like Tag & Rename.

I see, so if I tell it to write ID3 tags (a question Itunes asks alot //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif), the songs will show up on the CD's?

My computer recognizes a cd and all of the song names. On another computer it shows up as track one, track two, etc. 99% of my songs are MP3's with tags (Id assume, filenames at least) already in a large file folder on my comp.

^ not true, iTunes will query the Gracenote CDDB.

There are other softwares that will do similar things.

Mp3tag has worked well for me...able to tag as many files as you need at once.

all i know is itunes for mac when you ripa cd and sleect to query cddb it names the songs.

It goes by

Artist Name Folder

Album name folder

Mp3 names

I shoudl clarify that is how it puts the file son the hdd. All mp3 tracks are named correctly and have proper id3 tags.
