Anyone in the IT field know what major certifications employers are looking for? I will have my Bachelors in Computer Information Systems in 6 classes and Im starting to look at getting some certifications. For those that dont know the CIS degree has numerous focus areas. Most of which fall under networking (LAN, WAN, etc.), Databases (Design, Implementation, or management), or programming (Application development or webpage through HTML, Java, C++, Python, PHP, etc.).

I was thinking for sure the Comptia Strata IT, Comptia A+ Essentials, and Comptia A+ Applied Applications for starters. Any others I should be considering? Also any chance anybody has the study materials either digitally or electronically?

You need two things if you ever want to go overseas/military in the IT field. CCNA and Security + .... i've been to 10 countries just from these two little certs. I was once paid 250,000 a year overseas....just food for thought bro.

I think I have the Cisco LAN/WAN books for the CCNA. However web/application security is basically another discipline.

What ive heard people are doing is buying the study book and going to the test knowing they'll fail...then they regroup themselves to know what they need to really know for the test. There is nothing worse then studying shit you don't need to pass.

I don't know what your end goal is, but if you want to make mad cash of the military complex (like I have for years) then get both the security + and CCNA, and you're gold. Recruiters will be jerking off before they even call you to pitch a job. I literally get 2-4 recruiter calls a day for me to go to Afghanistan, Iraq...Greenland, El Salvador....anywhere americans have a base. The thing is, once you get a job like that you're given secret clearance and you get to go anywhere you want to in the world and get paid like a boss. Its a good way to see the world if you like that sort of thing. I know I do //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Security+ (201), though I don't use it at all, is a nice piece of cake to have on the resume. I get emails just because of that and my clearance. The systems security field is really a constantly growing in demand sector that I have seen. Some gov't positions will require to work some crap hours, but some are worth it for the money they pay for the off-set. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Yes, but what about your audioz?

//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crying.gif.ec0ebefe590df0251476573bc49e46d8.gif I wouldn't be able to do it.
For that kind of money and the places you get to go. Totally worth it. There are cooler things in this world to see than car audio. I've been looking to into what I need to do government IT contacting for a couple months now.

Been in IT for over 25 years...have a masters degree but no certifications...they are just money making scams. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif
