it amazes me

this will be a rant. get ready.

So ive noticed alot of families have to cut back on spending due to the economy.

Well i have also noticed alot of their cuts are made to the kids. not parents.

Buddy of mine has both parents. They cut back on clothes even tho they only buy once a year only once a year.

Cut back a 10$ internet bill. Took his prepaid Phone etc. But yet his parents drive a ford excursion,

smoke 1 pack of newports a day each. still have their smart phones. Make nonsense trips to waste gas. and very many others.

so why are the parents so selfish? at least when i need to make a cut my parents make one with me. ive noticed this all around the country when someone is asked what they cut back its something of their childs.

discuss even tho its a bad thrown together rant
Why don't you ask his parents instead of bringing this on this therapeutic site, :|

13 and being left at home isn't that bad. That's prob the youngest age allowable imo. No cell phone isn't big deal, HE's 13. His P's cut off the web because there 100 per month ea "smart phones" already have it. That's selfish esp if he needed it for school. Clothes aren't a huge deal as he's hs'd. As long as they aren't stained, ripped and still fit it's no biggie.

A pack of Newports a day = $2,100+ a year.. stopping smoking alone would greatly improve their quality of living day to day.

Not only physically but financially too.

This is a classic case of misplaced entitlement. If the kid is home schooled, he hardly needs school clothes as has been pointed out many times.

If the kid has a roof over his head, he has no need to leave the house, so he can use the home phone. We used to do this before cell phones were common. A cell phone is not owed to anyone... especially a 13 y/o kid. Home schooling can be and as stated has been conducted via discs, mail in forms, etc for years. The internet is not a requirement.

You are saying that the parents should make some concessions since they are making their child. You don't know that they aren't. You have merely pointed out some things you think are wrong and tried to bait us all into agreeing with you. It is likely that they have made cuts you have not observed and made concessions you are not aware of.... but that doesn't change the fact that they don't have to. If the kid is well fed and has a roof over his head you don't really have a valid complaint. There are people FAR worse off than him that actually DO have bad parents. By your definition all poor people are bad parents. You are clearly just a spoiled kid with a silver spoon in his mouth, obama supporter. Grow up.

Whats with kids these days? We didnt have cells bitd or internet as far as that goes. I really dont see a valid complaint here 13 home alone is legal. The kid is clothed with a roof goin to school be it home or not. Luxury items ie cell and net r not needed just nice perks if u can afford and the child is deserving

Thats a bunch of horse ****, im 21 and i have a 3month old. Kids are only kids once, my parents worked there *** off so i could have cool **** when i was that age and i have some really good childhood memories because of it. The worlds fucked off and dosnt usually go how you need it to, why make them learn that any earlyer then needed. I understand making a 16-17yr get a job for spending money but kids should be a bit spoiled. Disappointment comes with life and is pretty brutal at first, ide rather my daughter not have to learn that till high school.

Hes was speaking of a 13yr and i know alot of parents with younger kids that do this, i think 0-14yr old there the **** priority.

The question is, in hard times is it ok for parents to take away some of the child's luxuries? The answer is an overwhelming yes. No matter how much you want to spoil your kid, it doesn't make it the gold standard for parenting. Thank your lucky stars you have that option. You don't know these people or know what it takes to keep the house and put food on the table. They might need their smart phones. They earned that money and it is theirs. If they are scaling back that is their choice. It's not mean. Your logic says that all poor people are terrible parents. I would have to tell you to look at the old days. People were dirt poor and raised on farms. Their mothers made their clothes etc. Those people all turned out to be good, hard working americans for the most part. Now fast forward to the kid that had the nice car as soon as he turned 16 in high school. Look where he is now. In most cases he's a piece of crap failure.

im still young. 18 in may.

ive had a job since 13, and pay for most of my stuff. every car repair, gas, insurance, cash, Car audio, clothes, may car.

gratefully my parents pay for my phone.

but dude should get workin. especially if hes home schoold, what 4 hours a day?

i see both sides of this though.

im sure he gets decent clothes. sounds like your trying to make it sound worse than it is.

You have very valid points, but im not sure thats exactly what he means..... From what im talking about i do know alot of parents who do unneeded spending, so its a take give kind of thing. Im just saying, growing up my buddys moms car was repo'ed after she was 60short on her note. That 60 came from her bi weekly red bull addicion, she HAD to buy 2 cases of redbull(30pack) every 2 weeks. She lost her car over redbull >.>

And if there parents wanted to keep there hard owned money so bad daddy should of worn a condom
