for a little extra money and work is it worth it? how much louder does it actually get
generally it is more difficult to build a properly ported box than it is to build a sealed one. and an installer will charge you up the *** for that.It is worth it. Going from sealed to ported is like night and day. The output is far greater ported. And a sheet of MDF still costs the same, no matter what you do with it...
a noticable difference by ear is 3dbs. 10 is asking a lot.do u think i would get a good extra 10 dbs atleast
No, In most cases a 3-4 decible gain is achieved when switching. And as mentioned it is near double the output to your ear.do u think i would get a good extra 10 dbs atleast
this is kind of a general statement but anyway, if your systems output is maximized, to get a 3db gain you would have to double your cone area and double your wattage. so just for an example, if you have one 12" and 500 watts, you would need another matching 12" and 1000 watts total.3dB is actually alot when talking about decibels. The difference between a handsaw(not electric) and a farm tractor is only 3-5 dB
no, you can optimize the single woofer setup without paying for another woofer and another amp.so according bri, you will be SAVING money if you want the same output.
