i just bought an 04 silverado from a friend of mine and he has i nice system in it that was part of the deal.

alpine hu CDA-9825

memphis 6x9s in front

memphis 4x7s in rear (i think the sizes or correct)

400watt(rms) pushing those speakers

1 10" base memphis sub with 400watt(rms) pushing

also memphis tweets in the front

as you can tell i'm a nubee to the car audio scene but is this set-up worth keeping or should i sell it a hook up my own system. It sounds good to me but being a nubee almost anything sounds good so what would you guys do.

You may want to reconsider the 6x9's in the front, unamp the 4x6's (unless you really like the rear fill), and look for a nice set of 6.5'' components for the front. That should sound nice.

Edit: And those are 4x6's in the back, not 4x7's.

if you like how it sounds, keep it. it all depends how much you would wanna spend if u wanted to get something new. thats about a mediocre system imo.

True, but those xenons really blow the socks off those memphis coaxes. Nothing against memphis at all though great company, but those memphis coaxes sound really bright, and the tweeter was often harsh. I know this, because i was a previous owner of some. The midbass of the xenons are incredible. Huge step up in quality.

what the hell does bright mean lol

I hear it all the time, no clue what it means.

also, I dont know what harsh means in respect to tweeters

I understand the word, just not in this context.....

By definition, harsh is something unpleasant, painful; disagreeable to the senses, especially hearing. Does this mean the tweeters sound unpleasant? Or are they just too loud that it's painful? lol

When I said the tweeters are harsh, I ment that they were really loud, but some people may like that. The midbass of the memphis wasnt as strong as I hoped for either, but they were decent speakers.
