Is this worth it?

I just recently purchased a 2002 civic ex. The rear deck contains 6x9's. Im not too happy with them. Would it be a good idea to replace them with something like 2 8" subwoofers?

Has anyone done this, and was it worth it in your mind?

its almost always better to use subs in the rear than to use the rear speakers...at least in my opinion...btw I'm gonna be gettin 2 8's and a 400watt amp to go in my trunk soon, rear speakers are gonna be disconnected

Well i will soon have at least 2 12" alpines in the trunk...should I just cancel the rear speakers, or would it still be a good idea to get the 8's? they would be powered with the directed 250d, by the way.

Just yank them out so that the empty holes act like vents for your 12" subs from the trunk to the cabin.

This is what I did in my Dads car and they actually sound pretty good...The plan was to put a pair Arc 8s back there but to install them properly I would have to make a MDF baffle and my Dad said he didnt want any of that. I would rather put those 8" subs than those 6x9 "subwoofers"...the bass response is just ok compared to a true subwoofer.

The back seats fold down, so its not like there would no ventilation for the 12's

you could always make a 6x9 replacement adapter and put a diy component set in there for rear fill.
