Is this worth getting?

To be honest, it'll be next to impossible to assemble a quality setup for under what that costs, unless you found most of it for free - but 7.1 isn't needed anyway.

$1000 would be a doable budget for a DIY 5.1 setup.

Ok I can do $1000 or a little over, what options do I have for a 5.1 setup? I don't know much at all about home audio.
