Yes and no.

Many manufacturers in recent years use a rubber boot on the magnet just for that reason (and having a place to put their name on doesnt hurt either).

However, neodymium magnets (on highend subs from the likes of Aura) come fully enclosed so they cant chip.

I received it chipped. Not being up on UPS's codes I opened the box. Its a small chip and works fine but that is what I was told by a member of another forum.

If you bought a new sub and got it with a chip in it would you want a replacement rather it works or not? Just wondering how others would feel.

Also, who is to contact UPS I or the shipper?

 
Skitzafit I saw your posts on the FI forum. The anwser isn't simple.

Magnets are brittle. Yea the can chip easily and it does happen. some companies encase their magnets in rubber or other protective materials. But it is still a brittle material. I saw your pics of the box that came from UPS and as much as I hate to say it, this is your fault for accepting that package. It looks like they dropped the box mulitple times. You should have said something when it was delivered. That being said Scott nor FI should have to replace this. Also like you were told the sub will lose no performance from a chip that small.

 
try telling that to some of the people that didnt pay for it. It's all my fault. Cause I opened the box. and didnt contact UPS frist. I tried to get ahold of the shipper.

 
Skitz they are correct if that banged up car arrived at your house banged up would you have taken it or sent it back? not taken it then decide later you dont like its condition. .... just trying to use a similar analogy

 
I told you we are going to get this handled and likely through ups. There's absolutely no need for you to flip out like you did/have/etc, along with a severe case of diarrhea of the fingers on SSA while the whole staff has been gone and doing other things, we do have lives and many other things that we do other than sit on the forum and answer emails.

Patience man, patience. Scott is out of town until tomorrow, UPS should be getting in contact with you by mid week if not before.

No need nick unless they will take it after its been mounted. like i said i can live with it i guess. I dont belive you or others should make me out to be the prick if you go read the frist page i never stated it was all scotts fault but everyone sure did bash and slander huh.

 
well if the box was all fuked up and you opened it anyway, i'd say youre fuked

cause whose to say you didnt open it, dropped it and chipped it

 
It didn't start as bashing they told you to contact UPS and you just kept complaining. So then they started to get annoyed, they gave you the anwser it just wasn't what you want to hear. I hope ya dont even bother changing it. You should be fine with it just the way it is. I have a BTL myself and love it.
