Ok I have a 2006 Honda Pilot with a factory Rear Entertainment System (DVD Player screen). Up front on the dash the actual DVD player is located below the head unit radio and A/C controls, however the DVD player controls are on the head unit itself. There is also a DVD control remote that has the same controls as the head unit.

I was wanting to replace my factory head unit with my X990...but I have read that the factory headunit supplies the rear DVD with remote turn on power and a data signal for the DVD to come on.

Do you think there is any way a skilled technician could make this work so that the DVD player still work and can be controlled by the remote and the X990 can be used as the radio/speaker control?

What I am thinking is keep factory radio, and get a good LOC like a LC8 or something like that.

What kind of LOC/EQ would I need to get good SQ from my factory HU?

Ok I have heard that the 880PRS has DVD control abilities. Do you think the 880 would would as a replacement Head Unit while still keep the rear DVD?

Most likely the dvd controls are a proprietary honda control that the 880 would not be able to. Good bet that by replacing your HU you lose your oem dvd.

Are the car speakers used for sound?

My only thought is that you could do a radio relocation, so keep the cd player hooked up just stashed away somewhere, this is often done in caddys and such. But then your going to have to need to rerun new speaker wire

I am doing a totally new install so re running wire is not a problem.

Yes the speakers in the car are used to sound or you can use the wireless headsets.

I don't really want to relocate the stock radio because that will just turn out to be more of a pain then its worth.

Or....could I buy an indash DVD flip up unit and run the video out put to the rear DVD so that the same picture would be displayed from both?

Most every factory dvd system cannot be integrated.

Get something like a 3sity.2 no real need for a new HU

Yeah I guess I will put out the dough for a 3sixty. What are the main differences between the .1 and .2. I will be running passive.
