Here is how i have my sub wired (its DVC 4 ohm):

This is how it should be:

so my way negative and positive go from the same voice coil from the amo over to the other one. But the way i assume its supposed to be is positive goes to one voice coil from the amp and negative goes to the other voice coil from the amp.

Does this make a difference?

uh yea. how you have it wired right now is making it so the sub is only using "half" of it's voice coil (so to speak)...

the other way is proper

No difference. The electricity will see the negative side of your subwoofer exactly the same either way since there is a wire connecting both terminals.

...not sure if that made sense.
