got a 12" sub from IA and there is a lot of rubbing going on when i push down on the sub. its a few months old and i thought it would get better when the sub loosens up but it still has big amount of friction going on. is this something that will go away over time or is it something i should contact IA about?

at low volume you can put your ear near it and here it rub, and when i was pushing down i made sure to do it evenly.
Was it brand new when you got it. If so call up IA and tell them about it, As far as I have ever heard they have spectacular customer service

put your finger on the middle of the dust cap and do it.. it still shouldn't do it from how you had it.. something shifted in shipment.. it might be a little late now.. they could say you dropped it or something

Sometimes the pole shifts during improper shipping but proper packaging. The packaging keeps the basket and soft parts in tact, but the centrifugal force still propels the pole over a few millimeters. This pinches the coil in the gap. It will have to be cut open, the pole re-aligned and reconed.
