You might have to change the phase on your sub/s. depending on distance, there could be cancellation. Try swapping the positive and negative wires.

LOUDNESS button could be on. It'll do a bass/treble boost at low volumes and kick off somewhere higher on the volume knob.

Yes, im serious.

FOR INSTANCE:

Take a 500 RMS mono block amp, hook up a sub at 4 ohms, and turn the gain up (but still below clipping)

Take another of the same amp, and hook up another of the same kind of sub at 4 ohms, and hook it up. On this one, turn the gain down all the way.

WHICH ONE IS GOING TO GET LOUDER (Have more power) when you turn up your volume?

I'll let you figure that out.

BETTER YET:

Take a 1000W RMS amp, and set the gain all the way down. (Hooked to sub that takes 600 RMS)

Now take a 60 X 2 RMS amp, and hook up two speakers, each rated at 100 RMS. Turn the gain UP (But before clipping), to atempt to get to the rated power.

When the volume goes up, the one with the gain turned higher is going to get up to the rated power quicker then the one with the lower gain.

what would the loudness button be called/
Loudness.

Or just "Loud"

But it depends on your deck.

Tells us more about your system. What HU (specific brand and model)? What speaker(s), amp(s) and subwoofer(s) (specific brands and models)? How are the speakers being powered (by an external amplifier, or by the HU)? How did you set the gains and where are they set?
