so my current amp is a 2500.1 - i used the voltage calculator and came up with 70.7 volts before it clips. so if i use a -3db test tone at 50hz i should set the gain right before 99.6 volts? ( 70.7x1.41) = 99.6.

Set it to 70.7.

The reason for using it 3db down is music is dynamic and will only go to 0 occasionally. You could set it 99.6 but it will clip on peaks.

I wouldnt if I was using a 3db tone but take that with a grain of salt since I have never used a dmm to set gains.
