Is this a good PC barebones kit?

OP are you in a big azz hurry for your build?

Because an 1156 socket is end of life, you'd be much better off waiting until some 1155 mobos are shipping again in 2-4 weeks and at least getting a socket type at the beginning of its life-cycle.

Additionally, IIRC, intel is due to release some new duo core SB 1155 chips the 20th of Feb.

don't you brah me, bruh //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif

so you didnt end up w/ 2 extra sticks? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif

i still run 775 //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/*******.gif.a649d21efc0d1fd4890a6428166586c1.gif

Further, i believe that the ivy bridge chips, when they are out, are supposed to fit the 1155.

I'm just saying, if you can wait a couple weeks you will get a socket type that you can actually upgrade the CPU in a year or two... on top of just having a faster, cooler, and better chip in your new build.

he could use all 3 stick but it probably wouldnt run dual channel... sort of defeats the purpose...

and purposely buying a triple channel kit to run on a dual channel board kills all credibility.

Ram is super cheap right now too.. i paid $47 a/r for 8gigs of corsair XMS a couple of weeks ago. That's 2 4 gig stick FYI.. which is what you actually want for a DUAL channel board lol

i'm thinking 3 channel = 3(x2) channels... i've been out the game for a minute. obviously.

i havent built a computerz since like 2001 or 2.

my last build i soft modded my sapphire 9500 GPU into a 9800 and used a pencil to unlock the multi on my Athlon. Been all laptop since then..

Nonetheless i am sourcing parts for my next build right now.. so doing a lot of reading and getting caught up.

i have a different budget than the OP, but i so far have bought:

i7 2600K

thermalright silver arrow

corsair ax850

Corsair XMS

Asus DVD

2 TB HDD

fan adapter

I still need to buy:

p8p67 deluxe mobo (when released again)

Corsair 650D case (when released)

eVGA gtx 570

128 gig SSD either the c300 when its cheaper or i'm ready to build... or if its out the intel 510
