B) you didn't ONCE tell him that amp was fine. Actually at least three times you told him to get a bigger amp. Why not just answer his question? He's lookin to spend a total of 300 for amp and sub and you steer him to a 300 dollar amp. WTF.

your biggest issue IMO is the lack of any drivers that produce midbass.

if you find that you want more volume, add an amp for those speakers and ensure the installation of them is well done, sealed, etc.

Nothing I said was wrong. As someone brand new to car audio, it's likely he may never want to upgrade. So quit assuming. Yeah I upgraded eventually but I bought new equipment anyway because my taste changed. Besides HE HAS A BUDGET! As he said, he doesn't want to spend too much.

Every single one of the OP's original questions were answered within the first 10 posts, and then some. He got recommendations which were intended to keep him the mistake on buying the M500 in the first place. Just because it's someone's first time doesn't mean they need to throw money around to learn their lesson; sounds to me like you get all your info about car audio from yahoo answers or best buy salesmen. Misfit even posted a link to the 4-ohm version in the 7th post, alluding that it's the proper sub for a single set-up, and will be the best choice should he ever want to upgrade to a dual type-R setup.

Also, get out of the "a speaker can only take its RMS rating or you risk summoning the apocalypse" mindset - that's simply not true. Any newfag can learn to successfully send more power to their speakers and not risk a thing. He doesn't need to settle for an overpriced amp to learn that.

And no, the M500 is NOT worth the money, plain and simple. Yes, it will work decently with single type-R but if he ever wanted to move onto something else, that amp will have to be sold, plain and simple. In fact, it'll hardly be worth $60 in 2 years, so why even bother. I have one sitting in my room right this instant - if you think it's the second coming of christ, I'll sell it to you and you can have fun fondling your Alpine gear.
