Is running 8 AWG power to a MRP-M850 a sin?

Hey,

I already have a run of 8 awg in my car, I have an MRP-M850 on its way here, if I used the 8 AWG wire on this amp would it be a terrible thing? Would it still be putting out 850W or would it be starving it? By how much?

I don't want people that don't know what they're talking about replying "0AWG or you fail at life"

I mean will 8 awg work? Or will I seriously see my amp being underpowered?

Thanks

What are the actual numbers here, what is 8 AWG rate for and what is 4 AWG rated for and 0 AWG? Is it the Amps I need to loot at?

I found this table for copper wire at normal temp:

How many amps would be flowing from my battery to my MRP-M850, from that I could see which wire is really needed.

You'll be just fine with 4 awg, but if you plan on upgrading in the future, it wouldn't hurt to run 1/0 AWG.

However, I doubt that amp accepts 1/0 wire, so just use 4 awg unless you want to use a reducer for the 1/0.

I know people that have used 8 awg for speaker wire //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

well I quess you could use the watt equation (1w = 1v X 1a) and work backwords. What imp are you going to run it at and whats its RMS at that imp? correct me if im wrong guys I would like to know.

It'll be 850W at 2 Ohms, Battery is sitting at 12.4V right now (car off). But the 850W from the amp will never see the power wire, that only goes through the speaker wires. (I think) The only thing really going through the power wire is the voltage from the battery... I think
