Is Q-Logic the only alternative in non-DIY kick panels?

Basically, if I (or someone I know) don't make kick panels myself, is Q-Logic the only company who sells them? They don't make them for 2k malibus, so I have to go with the universal one, but even the universal kicks from q-logic say they're designed to be cut+molded to a specific application. I'm just looking for a solution where I can buy the kick panels, put in the speakers, and be set.

If there are alternatives, are they 1) more expensive and 2) require more work than what I've mentioned above?

A lot of car audio shops will do custom fiberglass work but it's very expensive. The place down here quoted me $350 for kicks. About 2x as much as q-logic but you'll know they are made for your car. The other option would be to expand your current factory locations. This is pretty risky too because you don't know if they will fit and if you don't do it right it can look pretty bad. There are a couple people around that can try and make some for you but it's pretty hard to have fiberglass work done accurately without them having the car.

I don't get why it needs to be form-fitting of a car. My view of what a kick panel is is something that holds a speaker; you can carry it in your hands; and that you put in somewhere on the floor - near the doors. Why does it have to be form-fitting if it's easily movable??? I'll re-read gauntlet's tutorial but what I've written above was the first impression I got out of it.

I put up this thread asking if anyone makes 'em but no one's replied so that's why I know I have to buy them now.

Okay, took a look at the tuturial again - word for word this time. All I had done before was just look at the pictures...

I understand why they contour the actual vehicle - so there's a ball-socket connection.

Also, when the price estimate was added up - I got something greater than $100 as a modest estimate. No one builds anything or has stuff "lying around" in my house - so I would pretty much have to buy everything [old sheets/newspaper is about all I have, if applicable]. So buying from q-logic wouldn't be _that_ bad of an idea/disadvantage with regards to cost and making them yourself.

still don't think I can make them...but does q-logic hold the monopoly when it comes to consumer kick panels? There's no other companies???
