is it worth putting components in the rear

Depends on how loud your sub stage is as to whether or not you will hear them. If sound quality is your goal I would recommend against it. I took out my rear speakers the same day I put my subs in, and have never looked back.

well i still have a sub in the back seat also, i just got a mono block for the sub and i was going to use my 4ch for fronts and rears

Depending on your amp, and the impedance of your speakers, I would say you might be better off bridging the 4 channel on the front speakers, and calling it a day. If your sub(s) are loud enough, you won't hear anything from the rear speakers unless you are sitting in the back seat.

I agree with him. If you still have back seats and want those who sit on the back to enjoy the music too, then go for it.

It's really just personal preference. I still have my back stage because it feels awkward knowing I don't have a back stage, but that's just me.

its a matter of personal preference. Obviously typically components are superior speakers, however like mentioned above if they just act as rear fill its not something you may even notice. If you make enclosures for the rear fill, so they don't get muddled by the sound pressure of the subs, or to enhace their sound it may be worth the components. I run components just because I perfer it.

I have comps in the front and coaxials in the back. I was kinda worried about the effects of my new sub on the rears but it turned out pretty good. The stock speakers were components in the front and very muddy full range (No tweets) in the rear and so rear passengers had crappy sound. The coaxials were a huge improvement.

I'm running a 12" Infinity in the trunk and I'm pretty happy with how it all sounds.
