if your car's engine and exhaust is really loud?

When I'm in my friend's Camry, it seems like heaven because it's so quiet. He is not into car audio, so his stock system sucks major ***, but I can hear the speakers good because it is quiet. Obviously, he didn't deaden his doors or any of that good stuff. If I took his normal listening volume and went in my car with it, I wouldn't be able to hear anything, especially when I'm on the highway.

Since I'm a ricer and modded my cars with unnecessary noise, is it still worth the time and money deadening the doors, even though the engine and exhaust will still continue to be loud?

If you put the deadener in the right places, you can eliminate engine noise. Put a layer on the rear floor, trunk floor, and firewall and you will kill a lot of engine/exhaust noise.

I would sound deaden just the floor in general especially around your rear shock towers and front fire wall. then deaden the front shock towers and then your doors. this shoudl help keep road noise out from freeway. Peopel even do inside of wheel wells on teh outside of the car to really quite down road noise.

shoudl be worth it, if you can do it for a hundred or less more power to you.

yes...now put a real air filter to deaden the intake and put smaller exhaust because you are seeing no gain from that 5" tip
i agree with taking the foldgers can off and puts a regular 3'' tip or somthing less annoying
My exhaust is actually small, not anywhere near 5".

When I'm on the highway, the exhaust is pretty quiet though.

Remove the loud exhaust. Other people's ability to hear and subsequently laugh at your riced out sounding ride is interfering with your ability to hear your music. A no-brainer if you ask me.
But I paid good money for that exhaust. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

The exhaust are not that loud, just louder than stock of course. I'm actually worried about everything besides the exhaust. I think it's my engine.

Well sound deadening can/will also help combat engine and exhaust noise, not just road noise from other cars. Figure out exactly where the bulk of the noise if coming from (under the hood or from the end of the tail pipe) and place more deadening in that area. Also try using some closed cell foam or carpet backing, dont just lay mat over the area.

Within the next hour, I will have to drive back home from school on the highway. I'll take a close listening to where the actual noise is coming from and start from there.

I forgot to mention that you may also want to consider a hoodliner deadening product, if your engine is making alot of the noise.

i deadened the whole trunk area of my firebird (formula) after I put a flowmaster on it, and while I could still hear the exhaust, it wasn't nearly as loud.

did you gut the car? if so, put the interior back in, but deaden under it first. also, the trunk, trunk lid, and the rear seat frame. if you feel up to it, you could also do the roof.
