Is it safe to buy used equipment...?

How safe is it to buy used equipment? I know it probably doesn't come with any warranty or anything. Is it worth the risk of buying used equipment at low prices trusting that it works good instead of buying brand new possibly overpriced equipment? I know there is a good chance that i could purchase some used equipment that sounds great and never have a problem with it and save a lot of money. I also know that i could buy used equipment that could go out on me in a few weeks/months and i end up throwing my money away. Im not sure, what do you guys think?

depends realy man....if the seller has a pretty good rep...sure why not.ive bought a few pieces of used equipment and not a single hitch.also if you can, have them hook it up in front of you..so you know everything is in working order*thats if your buying local*yes,there is alot of ******* scammers..just dont step in their steps...ask alot of questions..check things out n go from there

Look at it as if you're buying a car. Know how much it is new, the Quality of the amp (or car, like Ford vs Lexus), How does it look consmeticly if it's possable. Most people buy there cars used, the same guidelines should apply for buying electronics.
