is it possible?

With 120w plate amps going for $100 and decent recievers a little more expensive, hooking up car audio in a home setting seems more trouble than it is worth.

Umm you hook the ground up to the negative battery terminal, thats what it is in your car, the negative terminal of your car battery is hooked to the chassis effectively making the whole car a ground.

do i need a fuse for the power wire like i would in a car
Eh....just to be on the safe side...I would say yea go ahead and use one, wouldnt want to burn your house down if something shorted now would we //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/scared.gif.f134e57c6c93ccd0f15aa5ac32c7d4a0.gif :thumbsdow //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/verymad.gif.3f39c5c2fd57527b671fad3efdfac756.gif

If you're using a car battery indoors, that's hydrogen sulfide gas (H2S) you've got in the air. Open a window and don't smoke. (But where's the fun in that, right?) If you live near any car audio retailers, and you don't mind asking, have one of the floor guys crack open a wall display--that's 100% car audio wired for indoor use. (Minus the 12V air freshener--they'll be using AC converters I bet.) Good luck!
