Is it possible to clip your subs if they are rated the same amount of watts as the amp puts out?Do I even need to worry if my gains are at like 60%?My problem is that I cant turn the bass up to much on my HU because I only have 4x6's.So what I did is hook them to an amp and have them turned down so I can turn up the HU and have louder bass.It sounds good enough for me,but I just wanted to make sure I wasnt killing my amp or subs.It doesnt sound like they are clipping but how can I tell without an oscillope?I hope all this made any sense.Any input would be appreciated.

If you go and follow the Gain-Setting Tutorial and never go past that volume point, then no.

If you do this and the amp is overrated, yes.

Gain-Setting Tutorial is your friend.

any amp can clip.

Yeah, any amp can clip a signal, set your gains properly that way you will be safe.
