is it possible to refinish my jl 1000.1 amp? I want to paint it..

I really want to paint my jl 1000.1 amp (some custom scheme)... but I dont know if this can be done... I have no idea if you can paint the material the face of the amp is made from, and I dont know what paint can be used, especially because it has to withstand a lot of heat... if anyone has any info on this, it would be much appreciated.. i really want to do this soon...

last time i tried to take apart a jl. It seems like you cant really get the cover to easily a lot of things are attached. But i cant remember.

i have taken it apart many times, the cover comes right off actually... i definitely cant powdercoat it myself... im lookin for a high temp paint or somethin?

You can buy "hi temp" engine paint at most auto stores, but will have limited color choices.

Althought I doubt an amp gets hot enough to harm regular paint. Just might smell the first few times it heats up...

ok heres the steps

1. go get spray paint

2. make sure you do this in your closet or something where not alot of air can be circulated

3. spray paint the shit out of it with like 3 cans

4. you wont make it here so dont even worry bout it

Clean the amp, first off. Use some sandpaper (100-120 grit) and lightly scuff sand the surface that you are going to paint. Go to Walmart or Lowe's/Home Depot and buy a quart of Zinnsser (I think I spelled it correctly) WATER BASED Primer. Apply the primer. Let the primer dry for 24 hours. Choose the paint that you want.

That Primer works excellent on metal. I have used it on various metal objects, and it does withstand temps up to about 150F.
