well i was wondering if i could run a sub and overpower its rms say like i have a mtx 15 9500 series and its rms is 1500 watts and put an amp thats 1600or1800 wat ts rms at 2 ohm,so well thanks.

most high end subs are underrated. A mtx 9500 will be o.k going over the rmx ratings by a few hundred, as long as you set the gains properly.

You can (almost) always dial in less power if you want via the gains. This would give you that elusive 'headroom' everybody loves to talk about as well.

If im not mistaken when you excede the thermal limits of a drive you can hear the distortion so as long as you keep a close ear on you sub and make sure its not distorting youll be A ok
