is it dead??

none of the mosfets are burnt but it does seem a little dark there on the board right below them but i'm not an amp guru i just thought id chime in cause it looked like it might be the mosfets. when I blew my amp i smelled it and thought it was the big coil and then found out it was the mosfets right above it.

unfortunately i bought it off a member on this forum.. no receipts nothing and i live in canada..
and you dont have to have a warranty or anything. I bought my 2500 from a friend and then when I burned the mosfets I sent it to kicker to have them fix it. they just called me today and said it was going to cost $110 to fix it. And that 110 covers the shipping to send it back to me. the only thing I think you would have to worry about is the fact that you live in canada and shipping might be alot.

ok well from what the pics show(not much the flash covered pretty much everything) the board looks fine.. my suggestion is.. Take the amp and connect it straight to the battery just to see if it turns on.. the ground to the ground... positive to the positive and the remote to the positive.. see if it lights up.. check for anything loose on the board.. shake it LIGHTLY.. do you hear any rattling?

looks like it might be a burned fet i see scorching around the fets on the board i think. I wonder if the power wires arced? It kind of looks like the power rail is singed too.. Im not an amp repairman just mentioning my observations. good luck

the flash lightened things out.. but its definitely pretty black above the coil where the copper bar goes into the circuit board. Connected it to power.. nothing.. and no lose parts. The unit only cost me $140 so i dont think its worth it to send it out.. maybe better to just get another 4ch amp

i just realized.. i had a jl 12w3v2-D2 sub connected to this amp and the channels were bridged. I think this amp (kicker zx650.4) can only do min. 4ohms when bridged.. could this have also contributed to blowing my amp? does anyone know if you can run 2ohm bridged on this amp?

ahh ha!! ic.. so i was getting away with it becuase i usually dont blast my music.. the gain was turned to max by accident and blew it.. are there such amps that can do 2ohms bridged, prefferably cheaper amps i can get used for $200 under? or should i go with 5ch amp? I just have front and sub speakers to power
