Is drilling into the top of the dash ok?

Is it ok to drill a 1 inch hole in the middle of the dash in a 2006 Chevy Cobalt LT Coupe? I am worried when I do that I set off some kind of air bag sensor. I am mounting a 8" Monitor in the middle on top of the dash. My air vents dont pop out and the only way to hide the wires is drill a hole and fish them through and put a grommet on it, looks ghetto if I do it any other way. Anybody that could help me with this. It is appreciated!! I am desperate for any kind of input from someone with experience drilling holes on the top middle of car dashes. Thanks-----Sean

Well, figure out how to take the dash apart and take a gander. I'd never drill a hole anywhere in the car without knowing what's behind my drill bit //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif

why in the hell do you want to drill a hole in the dash of a 2006 car.

and a screen isnt a good enough reason.

what happens when it gets stolen and you are stuck with a hole in your dash.

or if you get tired of it and want to take out the screen, but there is a bigass hole in the dash.

i would either mount it differently so you could run the wires without drilling any holes in it.

or just not do it at all.

i shudder to think how much a dash pad for a 2006 cobalt costs, if you can even buy them.

Cliffnotes: don't do it...

my sisters 99 cavy was a ***** to install a cd player, they had to take apart the dash, and i had a 7" monitor in my truck and it was kinda cool, looked cool and shit, but i didnt use it much. unless u do car shows its not worth it.
