I'm using an old school Punch 200ix DSM amp, just curious if anyone pushes these down to 1 ohm? With the subs I'm gettin, it's either 1 or 4. I know 4 is ideal and probably will be the way I'll run them, just asking.

The amp would not be run for great lengths of time, I just don't want to smoke it.

no, not "stable"...i ran my 800a2 at 1ohm and it wasnt very happy about it....run that amp at 4ohm and that thing will be bulletproof

yea but if you run it at 3 ohms it should be fine also and give you a **** load of power, just check your woofers ,alot of your better woofers you can get in 1.5 ohm voice coils.

I have two Incriminator Audio 12" 187's on the way, they're 4 ohm DVC so my only option is 4 ohms. I just recently bought some stuff off craigslist for cheap and decided on a whim to slap some bass in my DD. I picked up an old school Punch 200ix DSM, Punch 240 transa ana, two links, all endcaps, and two Punch 8" HE subs for $120. I tried selling the subs on craigslist cuz I knew I was going to smoke them if I didn't....well too late for that, the one is pinging pretty good so I'm sure it's smoked. Plus when my car years ago was in the mid 40 range for db's, all those 8's were doing was pissing me off.

So we'll see how these 12's sound soon. In the future I'll upgrade my DD and maybe get a little crazy, I'm thinking a walled pickup but for now, this will work.

they're 4 ohm DVC so my only option is 4 ohms
not exactly..you can wire each sub to 2ohm and run them at 2ohm stereo, which is essentially the same output as 4ohm bridged...its the same basically, but not the only option

I ran my old school punch 200 ix at 1 ohm for over a year on 4 SVC Punch 10's and all it did was get hot and keep on beating. Actaully my brother is still using the amp to this day pushing 3 8's to their death.

back in the day they had the nickname as the forman grill because people ran them below 4ohm mono and they got HOT.
Accutally they were called the Waffle Iron amplifier back in the day, Forman grills were not even out then //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif But yes they did end up with the forman grill name later due to the simularies after they grill was released.
