Is a blowthrough worth it

I have 3 JLw3s in a box behind the seat of my 98' regular cab ranger. When i first got it installed i was doin around 139 but now it seems as if it really isnt loud enough anymore.....Im thinking about doing a blowthrough with 3 Re 15 or 12 Mx's but im struggling with the thought of it being worth it or not. What do you guys think?

Well when you do a blow through...you go from having literally no space for subs to a ton of space...BTW i have a single cab truck also. I know there are a few guys on the forum with blowthroughs Im sure they will chime in

i think the 18s will be about 399 and also... they changed the dustcap from that ugly aqua colored thing... to a much nicer looking one!

I wouldn't tear my truck apart for it. It's going to be a lot of time and money.

actually The most expensive part of a blowthrough is the toneau cover...basically if you have a steady hand and alot of balls you can do your own blowthrough...also the gasket that you use to seal between the cab and bed can get pricey I think its like 3Dollars a foot.

Heh, wanna sell the truck? keep the interior paneling and put it back on, seal up the hole in the cab with welded steel, weld steel in the bed part, throw a tool box or bed liner in there, nobody knows it was there.

Now, the question is how much bed space are you willing to get rid of for the speaker box. Also, if you arent going to do a toneu cover is it worth the security risk. Ive of people to have speakers out of a blow through in 5min and the theives just had some courdless circular saws and some basic hand tools.

IMO if its done right its worth it. Other wise, no.

Yea i kno the cover is gonna be the most expensive part besides the subs and amps but im wonderin if i do get a blowthrough then how could i fix it if i wanted 2 sell it at a later date

Are you an SPL competitor? if so, see if a blowthrough changes your class.

It is a reselling black mark, unless you happen to have a buyer that WANTS a hole from the cabin to the bed.

if i can get the money for it, i'm thinking about doing a blowthrough on my reg cab silverado this summer

gonna do 4 12"s, something nice... some ava's, old xxx's, mags, something thats upper-end SQL. some sort of horn that takes up the entire bed of the truck.

or some other crazy box design. maybe a properly designed bandpass box.

i can build the box myself, i'm about to work at a car audio place so i'll have access to subs and amps (i know they carry 2500ds).

double thickness all the way around, with a 3/4" plexi cover and a tonneau on top of that
