Is 700 watts RMS enough for a 12' Fi Q sealed?

They are rated at 1000w but are they efficient enough to run off of 700w and get good results? I know a guy who runs an 12" IDMAX which is also rated at 1000w off of a 700w amp and it pounds and sounds great.

I don't think you're going to need all 1000 watts to get it sounding good. I'm "underpowering" each of my Icons by 400 watts a piece and they sound great and get loud for what they are.

700 watts should be fine, but it all comes down to personal preference. If you decide that it is not loud enough, then you might need to add a little more power or build a ported enclosure.

700 would be just fine. I had about that going to each of mine and they were rediculous.

doubling the power will increase by about 3db's, so the difference between 700 watts and 1000 watts isn't going to be incredibly significant, you'd be able to tell, for sure, but it won't be night and day

I've done a few set ups with 2 12" Q's off a SAZ 1500D in sealed boxes and they got very loud...
