I would say thats closer to the mimimum, ive seen upwards of 80 for custom labor.

from what ive seen at work thats about how much the shop i work at charges an hour for work but the installers get paid nothing near that

In this industry, I have been in both positions before. Independent installer and employee of an installation shop. I can tell you that doing it on your own is much more rewarding and you make a lot more money.

Finding a great installer and paying him $40-$75 per hour is about right for any type of install job.
