IPOD to Amplifier front and rear connection

Is it safe to connect my ipod to both the front and rear RCA inputs on my amplifer? I would essentially connect a 1 to 2 RCA adapter to both the red and white leads to allow two outputs from both the red and white RCA's.
Why would you possibly want to do this? It's a much better idea to just hook the ipod into the head unit... I guess if you really want to yes you can but you will have to retune the amp each time you change from ipod to head unit

what kind of 4 ch some amps have a selector switch on them for 4ch or 2ch input. if you amp has that all you have to do is select 2ch input and connect the front side rca's.
