Ipod to Amp

Hi... I have a 1963 T-bird that I want to install some new speakers, tweets, subs and amps in but want to keep my classic radio.

I was wondering, if I could just keep an iPod in my center console and run it directly to a couple of amps without getting a head unit. Has anyone done this and have a schematic? a website with wiring diagram or anything that would help me get this started?

Is it even possible? Will the ipod push out enough power?

Just out of curiosity, was that car at the Seaside,OR car show last June? The cable you posted would work. Than if necessary, get a female to female connector and add a longer RCA to it.

Nope.. This car has never been to OR as far as I know and definately not in the last 5 years.

I don't understand. In the pic, this cable has male ends. The connection on the amp is Female. Isn't it?

I'm sure that I couldn't easily control balance/fade and other adjustments with this ipod to amp direct connect but do you think I'd have enough volume control with this setup?

What is a line driver?

There was a car very similar to that one than. About the cable - I meant if the cable wasn't long enough to get to the amp from your IPOD. Those are only four foot cables. Not sure where your amp will be, however if you are going to put it in the trunk, you'll need an extension. That's why I mentioned a female/female plug and an RCA extension, but on second thought, if you need the extension, just get a female to male extension. I'm thinking of a different application. Sorry about the confusion.

The iPod docks use the line level output, so you will lose volume control on the ipod. If you use a 3.5mm to male RCA cable, you just go from the headphone jack back to the amps. You probably won't need a line driver if you just turn the gain up. It's not the greatest solution, but it will work. I test all of my amps with an ipod prior to installing them.
