ipod in-car

i've got an old pioneer deck, deh-p2000, and i'm trying to find a way to add my iPod to my car stereo.

i know denison makes kits for this, but unfortunatly they don't make one for pioneer deck yet.

i was wondering if anyone know of a cable that would possible convert the Uplink port for disc changers to an RCA input.

or any other suggestion.

the ipod can get to a stereo mini out.

thanks...

i knew someone had to have had the same situation.

i'm going to check out the AUX input first before i go and buy the uplink adapter, but i just haven't had time to pull my deck out and check.

thanks a lot though.

I can tell you right now, that it's there. If a Pioneer deck has a "P" prefix in the model, it's got it. Your P2000 has it, but a Deh-2500 won't (I don't even know if that's a real model). A quick google search found it too...

The input is called the IP-Bus System Control. If you look at the back of your deck, it's the little blue square with a ton of pins.

I have a Pioneer DEH-P2000 and bought a CDRB-10 adapter to connect my Creative Labs Zen Jukebox.

I plugged in the adapter to the IP Bus, then connected a RCA jack from it 2 my player as specified in this post. The MP3player is on and playing but I am not getting any sound?

Any ideas?

The source you need to select is AUX.

If you're not seeing it, don't panic.

Crack out your manual...if you enter one of the setup screens (don't rememebr which one), you can choose which sources are displayed. (ie. turn off the ones you're not using or turnon ones that aren't already on)

i don't think AUX is on by default.

another neat trick:

You can change the "AUX" title.

Again, check your manual, but you can enter any text you want.

People are weirded out when my 98/99 deck says "IPOD"

If you wanna wait till March Pioneer is coming out with an adapter that connects to your IP-BUS. This will probably be the best way to hook it up and will probably give the cleanest sound. Plus you can control the iPod from the headunit. Heres the Press Release:

"Pioneer Electronics today introduced an adapter to allow users to play songs from their iPod through the company's car stereos. The CD-IB100 adapter works with the IP-Bus system in more than three million Pioneer head units that were "sold during the past several years." Pioneer stereos will be able display up to eight characters of text including album, artist and song names, with the ability to scroll additional information. Users will be able to operate their iPods with the stereo's front panel controls. The CD-IB100 adapter, which will be available in March for $140, also takes full advantage of Pioneer's audio enhancement capabilities such as Easy Equalizer (EEQ) and Bit Media Expander (BMX)."

Here's my situation: I have an OLD Pioneer hu that came with my used car when I bought it from the owner. The hu is a DEH-P545. Pioneer doesn't make it anymore and it is the only headunit on their website that has no manual. Does anyone know where I'd be able to find one?

Yes, it plugs into the lighter socket and goes to an aux in on the radio. Works well. If you looka round on ipodlounge..there is a tutorial on how to bypass the amp.

OK, sorry to bring back an old thread, but I am very near buying an mp3 player and I don't know if my head unit will work. It doesn't say "IP-Bus System Control" like yours does.

Here is your hu: http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/pna/product/detail/0,,2076_4041_33764_tab=B,00.html?compName=PNA_ProductDetailComponent

Here is mine: http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/pna/product/detail/0,,2076_4039_34478_tab=B,00.html?compName=PNA_ProductDetailComponent

However it does say "MCD Control of Pioneer P-Bus 6, 12, and 50+1 Disc Multi-CD Players." Is that the same thing?

Hey skin_mf,

I also have a Pioneer DEH-P2000 and also live in Toronto. What cable did you end up getting to get your ipod to work in your car stereo? Did you get the CD-RB10 cable? If so, where did you get it? Did it work?

I'm looking for a place in Toronto that sells this cable but not sure where to look.

I appreciate any help you can give me!
