IPOD/HardDrive users come in!

the device has nothing to do with the quality of the music. its where you get and the bitrate as well. lower bitrate smaller the file worse the quality. higher bitrate larger file better quality.

ohh. i forgot where, but i heard that the sq would differ. i guess i'll go with the HD
the ipod is a hd //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif

edit:

wait wut kinda ipod do you have??

device itself has nothing to do with it
Well, as long as whoever built it put more than a second of thought or two into the DAC //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif I've actually heard of people having better results using the multipin connector on the Ipod and using their own DAC, vs. relying on the headphone out. The Wadia transports work this way.

But the bigger part in the OP's question is what format the files are...if you're really concerned about quality, skip MP3s and use a lossless format.

I use a hard drive as my main source of music at home, and I can't tell a difference between FLAC and the original CDs.

Wierd^^

IF you could find anything that played FLACS thats the way to go hands down IMO

But I dont know that any headunits do (so the flash wouldnt work) and an IPod cant play FLACS either. But yea, its all about the quality of the files, not the device playing it (assuming they play the same types of files)
