Ipod 4th Gen. Obsolete or still kickin?

I dont have an ipod, nor do I really want one, but my cd player hates me and always wants to skip, was thinking of getting an ipod, but dont wanna spend jack on it.

Found this 4th gen locally for $40, this is an actual pic of it and all the crap it comes with:

Ipod

Earphones

Ac Adapter

USB Cable

Firewire cable

Manual

Software

Maxell Mic ( memo recording)

iTunes Juice box (external battery supply)

So it this ipod still any good? is the stuff it comes with any good?

Im curious if the thing can be seen at night aswell, like in a car when its pitch black inside mine, does it even light up??

Screen lights up?? I just need a cheap fix because i LOVE LOVE LOVE my pioneer deck and dont wanna get rid of it so I can stay active, but the **** cd's skip so frequently now

yes it lights up and the screens brightness can be adjustes i believe as well as how long the light stays on after you set it down... how many gbs is that?

Its a 20 gig, more than what I need
This is the cable I wanna buy, http://cgi.ebay.com/PIONEER-CD-IB100-CD-iB100II-FOR-iPOD-INTERFACE-ADAPTER_W0QQitemZ320383104040QQcmdZViewItemQQptZOther_MP3_Player_Accessories?hash=item4a98523428&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14

Looks to me like the ends are the same that would plug into the ipod, any reason that wouldnt work??

Ive never had a freakin ipod (nor do I want one honestly) so excuse my ignorance
I'm pretty sure the plugs shouldn't have any issues... Maybe toss the ebay seller a question if it will match up with that gen ipod??

does your deck have usb? if it does i would jus slap on the same cord you use to plug your ipod to your computer, but it should work either way

Ya Ive got quite a few electronics form hong kong all with success, i know in the ad it says 4th gen, but says version 3.1.1, to **** if I know what that means
Likely firmware of the ipod. Once you hook an ipod up, run it through itunes, it updates the ipod to whichever firmware is the most recent. Likely means 3.1.1 and up.

I'd say you're probably alright.

Why not just get a nano? Or just use a flash drive? The 4th gens are ok but you might have to replace the battery eventually if it has never been replaced before. I suggest just using a flash drive though.

My cd player is older, flash drive isnt available, and I dont wanna spend alot of moey on just being able to have unskipping music. just want this 20 gigs, load it up.

Should be able to get the cable and ipod for less than $70

Pretty good if you ask me
