hey yall.. i was wondering if inverting my 15a will cause me to loss any sort of sq, and spl...

and if i was to do it, all i have to do it wire the sub normally and just take the +, and - and switch it when connecting to the amp?

...i am inverting dumb....

You shouldn't lose/gain SQ or SPL when inverting a sub. I'm not sure if you need to reverse the polarity on a single sub...I have heard 2 different stories, one saying to invert it, the other saying I don't need to.

yes you have to reverse the polarity on one, also you can gain spl prolly not enough to tell because there will be no driver displacement but you wont loose spl

so all that stays the same just reverse the polarity going to the amp?

does it harm the sub in any way?

i figure i invert that way nothing hits the cone when i have stuff in there....

Quick question, if the subs share the same airspace in a sealed enclosure and you invert one of the subs and reverse its polarity, would you have some sort of isobaric thing going on with a slight increase in SPL?

yeh, just switch the + and - on the amp.. it wont harm it to my knowledge if the polarity wasnt inverted, just sounds a little weired.
You have to invert it, otherwise it would be the same as running the regular mount inverted... //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

Just keeping the stroke of the woofer situated the way you had it is all you are doing.

There really is no "inverted" - just applications that happen to sound better in-car. Try and see what you like best. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

No, you'll just have zero bass. Think about it, one will be going in, the other out. They will cancel each other out.

ur wrong there, if u reverse the polarity on the one that is inverted than the subs will be moving the same way, but there will still be bass

but if you switch the polarity when you invert it, won't that change the impedence as well as the power output of the amp??

all this talk gives me an idea:

i have 4 svc 4ohm 12's, running off a two channel amp, two off of each channel in parallel at 2ohms. i think i want to try inverting two of them. each has its own airspace(2 sealed boxes w/2 in each). so i could have one box with one inverted and one regular and vice versa on the other side. so then would i wire my two regulars as before(parallel, 2 ohms) and my two inverted subs the same but with opp polarity(parallel, but connect pos and neg sub terminals to opposite terminals on amp) so that way i would have a 2ohm load(the "regular" style) that would be getting the full 200w, but then with the two inverted subs, wouldn't that give me a 4ohm load(2 4ohm speaks. in parallel can be either 2 or 4ohm right?) which would yield 150w from the amp. any insight would be great.

alright thanks for the help yalll...

i'm gonna invert the 15a in a 1.5 ft /\3 enclosure.....

and then later on if the 15a sealed isn't g0od enough, then ported it shall be...

pics up when i am done...

Well actually, you're right you would cancel most of the even order distortion. It that way only it would be like an isobarik setup.

Ok so all you have to do is switch the + and - on the amp, BUT what I still dont understand is will it change the ohm load to the amp. If I still wire it in parrellel it will be the same ohm load even even I switch the polarity right???

Also, You can invert subs in a ported box right?? I wont loose any SQ/SPL.
