hey i also have an interview, but in 3 days, anyone here know what i should be asking for? I won't go under $8/hr (this is for an installer position)

I doubt you will pull that off, but then again I really have no idea. Do you have any real install experience?

he might... i don't know what that circuit city pays... but when i started a year and a half ago i was started at $9

Well I went and he basically asked me some basic questions. Then he asked me what I worked the hardest towards and I told him my system and I told him everything I did to it. He then told me "cool cool, well i'm gonna talk to another manager and try to get you a second interview". Lasted 5min tops.

Also, to anyone wanting a job as an installer, getting your MECP will go a long way for salary negotiations...one of these days, I'll actually get the books for it and take the tests.

i don't know how it is on the east coast but the circuit cities around here take a LOT of pride in their installers and their tests are freakin ridiculous. One particular one that I know of, a good friend of mine could not pass the test w/o training and he's been doing amazing custom work for a year or two on his own before applying. Most of the installers i've met there are pretty dang good, it's the ones that they train for sales that ****. the most that they let them do is a head unit install or something. most of the installers also do sales too though, i dunno maybe CC's operate differently by region. most companies do..

ehehe, yeah my friend didn't want to spend max at 500 (included amp kit, wires, brackets, new speakers, subs, custom box, headunit), so i didn't do the speaker box terminals for him, i was gonna charge him 5 bucks to do the speaker box terminals, lol.

why dont you guys work at dedicated car audio shops, instead of crap like best buy and circuit city. I work at an actual car audio, and doing installs is the most boring sh1t ever. If i didnt get to fiberglass, make boxes, and make other misc. objects, i definitely wouldnt work there. Plus at an actual privately owned shop, you dont get bs 20% employee discounts, you get it for what they paid for, so basically as cheap as possible.
