Well I have DSL, but it was set up before I moved in by my roommate and all I know is, it is slow compared to a lot of places I have used the internet. What is a typical Download Rate for DSL? I know 56k is 56k, but what results should I be seeing on speedtest.net?

sometimes you get more from your isp and sometimes you get less

DSL sucks, you're probably expect around 256k - 512k download, and 128k upload.

Well, I am in the process of downloading a movie and watching one streaming online, but i just ran the test an got 192kb/s //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif

I don't know how much the other stuff I am doing will effect that. But wow. My plan sucks at life.

My dad gets 1.5 meg with his DSL, but he pays for the super whatever gangster internet. The crap that costs a lot. No FO where he lives, yet.

Yeah I reset router and stuff it was 600+

stop all the downloading then run a test at speedtest.net

typically dsl speeds are up/down

up to 768k/192k

768k to 1.5meg/192k to 384k

1.5meg to 3.0meg/384k to 768k

3.0meg to 6.0meg/768k to 1.5meg

at least these were theoptions w/ att

i really like how lazy/impatient we have gotten

700k is plenty fast for web browsing and will do well with most files

I dont see why some people need 10megs+ for home use

at work we have 3 T3 lines and it is VERY fast, of couse I cant really download anything, but web browsing is a beast

how much do you pay for your internet at home? Why would I pay for something that is about the same price and slower? Also, we have people playing xbox live and surfing the web and streaming videos and such. It will slow you down. It is about efficiency.

and my upload speed is about 1meg i think. i could be wrong but its not any lower than 500k. I wish my upload was as fast as my download.

DSL sucks for up if I remember right. I'm paying for 20Mbit cable and I usually only get around 1500 - 5000 down. Doesn't that seem slow for the service?
