interfire pro v12 vs skarr vvx 12

I would go with the Skars... I dont know if they are still doing the deal, but I know they were selling 2 12s and would build you a box for them for like 370 shipped!

Only issues with the Skars are the softparts... They arent great by any means, but if they go out on you, have @SPLaudio put his touch on them!

interfire has been around a bit but hardly heard of and those subs are grossly overpriced.
i agree, they are very over priced. never really seen or heard of one before.

but looking at the specs i'd go with the skarr, they are underrated and in my opinion good subs.

the interfire is deff a better motor simular to a re audio sx but dont know there soft parts and for the price wouldnt touch them. for the price of the interfire you could have a custom built that serve the interfire for breakfast.

Assuming the Interfire specs are accurate it has a pretty short coil.

Interfire, Inc.

Xmax = 11mm

I am guessing based on the total depth and T/S specs (and necessary magnet size to achieve them) that the top plate is probably about 12mm tall and that they are using over-hang x-max figures. If this is the case the coil is 34mm long. If they are using 70% BL then the coil is ~26mm long (so not likely).

If the top plate is 20mm thick, which I also find unlikely, then the coil is 42mm long if x-max is by over-hang.

Chances are it's closer to the 34mm figure or someone in between 34 and 42mm and that they are using over-hang x-max figures (pretty standard in the industry before FEA, Klippel, DUMAX, etc). A 1/2" top plate is also super common (~12mm) on drivers in that class as well.

Surface area of 3" coil x 34mm length is ~8188.492 mm^2 and the VVX-12 coil is a 2.5" x 50mm length so we have 9969.5 mm^2 of surface area... so MORE dissipation area despite being a smaller diameter plus a more efficient air-flow system (even though the IF sub has gap vents they aren't used effectively). Even if it is a 42mm long coil it is still 10115.196 mm^2 which is hardly any more than the 2.5" coil used on the VVX-12 so we shouldn't always assume the larger diameter coil has a thermal advantage right away.

Anyway... the Interfire is probably pretty decent as there are no tell-tale signs of a junk product -- and another auction I found shows the build quality looking nicer than the web-site as well :

(-NEW-) Interfire PRO-V12D 2100 Watt 12" Dual 4-Ohm Sub DVC Subwoofer ProV12D | eBay

But I see no reason to choose it over a VVX-12 which still costs less.

now the bad and i never experienced it for myself was that supposedly the spider gets saggy early but like i said never have seen it happen
This is not true -- unless someone takes the driver beyond any reasonable expectation of travel the spider will last for YEARS easily. As with any spider, though, if you stretch the weave out by blatant abuse and break all of the resin it'll get a bit soft -- typically this is only seen in cases of extreme abuse.

As it's the same spider as the SA line that I've been using since 2009 I have lots of data on it.

So the Interfire's AREN'T underrated, and ARE double the price..... The Skars ARE underrated, and are half the price. And as someone else mentioned, you can't beat the Skar deal. a pair of 12's with custom enclosure for $270?! They sound good, dig low, and take plenty of power.
They still got this deal? Lookin' to upgrade the old lady's minivan. This might be a bit much though.... Lol!

the interfire dose have gap venting but im not sure on other cooling features it has.

interfire was picked up by a dist i used for a bit but the prices are scary on the amps and the pro sub. there entry level subs were priced rite and specs looked nice...

Yep, saw the gap venting -- implementation isn't optimal but at least it's there //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
