Interesting situation...

So, I'm driving the other day with my music at a fairly loud level but nowhere near maxing out anything when I hear a thump and the music cuts off and my headunit displays "Protect."

I get home and check everything out. I reconnected everything and checked for any loose connections but found nothing. Checked all of the fuses and none were blown. Tested the amp terminals with a DMV and they were fine.

I figured the amp was fried inside then so I disconnected the sub input from my headunit (Kenwood x790) and turn the radio on. I go to check the amp just to be sure it still won't turn on only to see that it is turning on now. The power light is on and the protection light doesn't come on.

I'm lost. Somebody please help. All system information is in the sig.

It's been hot, it was prob just a thermal protect.

Take it easy on especially hot days.

Plus, most car head units are pretty close to the heater core in the dash, you ever feel how hot the inside of your dash gets?

Both the amp and the deck cut off simultaneously. The manual says that when it displays "Protect," there is a problem in the circuit system. Maybe I'll just try hooking it up again tomorrow morning and hoping it works then. This is very weird.

The thing is that neither the amp or the deck would turn on for the past few days so it wasn't just the heat.

well if the deck is in protect, it most likely isnt sending a turn on signal to the amp... so the amp is prolly ok... just disconnect your battery for a few min and then reset your deck (should have a button on it that u gotta push with a pin) and see what happens

Will do. Thanks for the help.
