interested in carputer

i was wondering what your guys' opinions of building a carputer with parts you purchase as opposed to buying pre-built carputers. would a pre-built be just as good? i can get this one for $719. http://www.xenarcdirect.com/store/product.php?productid=16141&cat=256&page=1 just wanting some opinions as i start planning out a carputer for my escort. thanks.

I'd say build your own. Check out the links in my sig to see what I did.

As to the one you linked to- it's not a bad system, but you still need RAM and a HDD. That's another ~$100-150. Plus, you need a monitor, which is about $300 or so.

well i was gonna go with an in-dash vga touchscreen by xenarc. i have an external 1xx gig hard drive i can use, and i'm sure i have some extra memory sticks laying around somewhere. i've been reading around on mp3car.com and there's ALOT of great info over there. been learning alot too.
