insuring my head unit?

Hmmmm... I wonder if normal car theft insurance would cover an after-market head unit... don't they have to cover the contents of the car along with the car itself? That, combined with a store warranty to protect against your Head Unit biting the dust prior to you buying a new one, should have you covered.

So, with your normal car insurance covering your HU from getting ripped off and a store warranty protecting it in case something non-theft related happens to it... what, like $45 for 2 years or something?

Anyone else have any opinions?

...nope, they wont give you anything for the aftermarket head unit because its not the the original oem unit. and since i'll still have the oem unit they wont give me anything for that. i could get a little if i said the oem unit was stolen, but they wont cover aftermarket head units....at least not my insurance company

I know my plan from Farmer's Insurance gave me a quote of like $12 a month to insure up to a $5,000 system. But don't hold me to that because I asked about 9 months ago.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crazy.gif.c13912c32de98515d3142759a824dae7.gif
